Spean Memay is a historical Khmer bridge situated 400 metres north-east of the huge reservoir West Baray. An ancient stone bridge, nearly 1,000 years old. It was part of the ancient road from Angkor leading westwards to Sdok Kok Thom, which in present days is just at the other side of the Thai border, 30 km north of the Cambodian-Thailand main border-crossing point Aranyaprathet. The bridge consists of 30 piers with 29 arches accordingly. It is built of laterite and measures 79 metres in length and is 9 metres wide."Spean Memay" means "bridge of the mirrow". It is sometimes called "Spean Thma", too. But Spean Thma usually is the name of the only other remaining bridge construction in Angkor, at the Small Circuit road, close to the temple-mountain Ta Keo. For a visit of Spean Memay, the morning is much better than the afternoon. You do not need a ticket in the area of the West Baray. #Cambodia #khmerancientbridge #Memaybridge @Credit To the owner
